Protected and Unprotected Radiation Exposure to the Eye Lens During Endovascular Procedures in Hybrid Operating Rooms

Radiation cataract has been observed at lower doses than previously thought, therefore the annual limit for equivalent dose to eye lens reduced from 150 20 mSv. This study evaluated radiation exposure of operators working in a hybrid operating room before and after implementation reduction program.

We have evaluated the effect of shortwave ultraviolet radiation on bacterial levels in an operating theatre, both in experimental conditions and during 20 hip operations. When compared with the use of sham blue light, there was a significant reduction in the number of bacteria.
